When I lived abroad, this was probably THE most missed Philippine Fruit of all, Mangoes! Mangoes from the Philippines are the best in the world. We have all kinds, from green to yellow (ripe) as well as dried. Indian mangoes are great even when they're still green and Yellow ones in season...hmmmm, sarap. We found these in the grocery today and my daughter said, "mama, baby mangoes!! can we get some?" They were too cute to pass up and nice to eat. They hardly have a seed in between those lovely cheeks, you know.
Also, here's a great recipe of Mango Salsa i like to make a lot.
2 ripe mangoes
1 bunch spring onion, thinly sliced
2 siling labuyo (jalapeño peppers) Kids don't like it tho, so optional.
1/4 cup finely chopped wansoy (cilantro)
Juice of 2 Limes ( about 2 Tbsp)
It has that very summery, light taste. I usually pair with fish tacos or spanish omelette. Hope you like it!
